The Experience

My favourite walk on the island

I'll tell you straight, the Blackwood Allen Nature Trail is probably my favourite of all our trails. Why? Because it is the easiest one to walk, gentle on the feet for grown-ups and children alike, with very little climbing, and you can do it at almost any time of the day. It is the one I take people on when they want the beauty of the forest without the hard work.

The whole walk lives inside the forest, start to finish, under a beautiful lush green canopy. Here and there the trees open up into natural viewing spaces that frame the forest and the sky, and there are wonderful flowers all along the way, our national flower the heliconia among them. Keep an ear out for the birds too, including the Montserrat Oriole.

Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience Montserrat's wildlife. Scriber's knowledge of the island is second to none. Orioles, hummingbirds, tarantulas — whatever floats your boat, Scriber can find it for you!Emma C.
