About us

Tours are operated by Scriber's Adventures, run by James "Scriber" Daley, MBE, based in Old Towne, Montserrat, West Indies.

Booking and payment

• You must be 18 or older to make a booking.
• Prices are shown in US dollars (USD) and are per person unless stated.
• Your booking is confirmed once payment has been successfully processed.
• The lead booker is responsible for the accuracy of the information given and for sharing these terms with everyone in the group.

Cancellations and refunds

Cancellation, weather, and refund details are set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Tour participation

• Tours involve walking, hiking, sun, heat, and uneven terrain. Difficulty levels are shown on each tour page — please pick a tour that matches your fitness and mobility.
• You must declare any medical condition, allergy, pregnancy, or mobility issue when booking so we can advise on suitability.
• Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
• We reserve the right to refuse or end participation for anyone whose behaviour puts themselves, other guests, or the guide at risk, or who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Assumption of risk

Outdoor activities on Montserrat — including hiking, birding, visits to the exclusion zone viewing areas, and time on or near the water — carry inherent risks. By joining a tour you acknowledge those risks and agree to follow your guide's instructions at all times. You may be asked to sign a separate liability waiver before the tour begins.

Our liability

We take reasonable care to deliver tours safely. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the tour. We are not liable for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control (weather, volcanic activity, government restrictions, transport disruption, illness, etc.). Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Insurance

We strongly recommend that every guest has their own travel and medical insurance covering the activities on their tour.

Photography

We sometimes take photos during tours for our website and social media. Please let your guide know on the day if you'd prefer not to appear in any photos.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Montserrat. Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Montserrat.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published on this page at the time of your booking.
